OG² Lighting produces great solutions for the LED and lighting markets.

Philosophy

For 11 years the principal at OG² has been designing and manufacturing LED luminaires for a diverse range of customers, from Architects and Consultants and blue chip customers, down to University start-ups looking for support and guidance.

Throughout this time the fundamental theme that runs alongside these designs is one of adaptability and flexibility to take advantage of the powerful tractability of the LED as a primary light source.

Product Development

Taking an idea from the concept stage to a fully functioning product requires a varied, creative and technical skill set. Then the ability to manage these to arrive at a production ready product. Training, Mentoring, Guiding are all descriptions of how experienced individuals can develop up and coming engineers, we are able to work with your young engineers and help them develop their knowledge of this diverse industry.

Pavegen

DuPont Circle, Washington

Pavegen has provided a seamless way for pedestrians to contribute renewable power to the local grid by simply walking down the road. Every day 10,000 people will be passing over 240sq feet of Pavegen tiles on Connecticut Avenue, just metres away from the White House.

This project required a custom designed luminaire to provide under bench lighting, designed and manufactured by OG² Lighting to withstand the Washington DC winters. www.pavegen.com

Patera

A new concept in industrial lighting, with a design brief to produce a glare free industrial light fitting which had a symmetrical photometric footprint, and around 120,000 lumen output. It required an imaginative design to come up with a product that was both commercially viable but also ruggedized for some very demanding environments.

The Patera’s key advantage is that it is a glare free light fitting, but capable of lighting an area the size of a football stadium. It is a unique design that was commissioned by a specific customer, but is now available from OG² Lighting for industrial area lighting applications. Brewery Square, Arum Solar

Brewery Square Dorchester

Initially working with the London designer Sebastian Conran to help design a luminaire that had an obvious environmental impact but with the very restricted provision that the unit provided correct illumination all year round to EN13201.

Clearly a solar only solution was not going to be the answer for the UK, so a solution to combine Solar and Mains power sources with a built in sensor head to provide the correct illumination was designed.

The principals around this product now form the basis of a range of innovative solutions that are currently being developed by OG2 Lighting.

The Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall Sail lighting project

Approached by Barco BV to provide a full colour LED product to internally illuminate four 4m x 6m curved sails for the Dubai Mall.

This project had many challenges to overcome not least the requirement to produce a perfectly uniform illumination over the whole surface from internally mounted luminaires, this would allow the surface to have advertising images projected onto the sails.

The solution designed was to use a custom linear extruded heat sink, designed and manufactured to fit the frame, mounted with a modular 52 LED RGBW array, each with its own 4 channel power supply, and each of the four sails with an independent wireless DMX unit.

Renewable Energy

With the world's increasing demand for energy OG² Lighting is about to launch a system that turns the humble street light into a street hub, with the attributes of a discrete power generator, which can be incorporated into a highly efficient micro-grid, using totally new patented control technology.

From a single unit or multiple units the “Global Light™” can provide feed-in power to a grid, and is in the form of a low capital cost, source of energy generation that can be tapped into, giving on demand power when required.

The Global Light™ is the key building block for localized energy generation built into a micro-grid for off grid power solutions, an attractive solution to the problem of providing sustainable street lighting, and with the option to incorporate into smart city architecture. Additionally it can be installed as a single stand alone lighting point giving reliable illumination all the year round.
